Prof. Sabiti Makara - Board Chair

Prof. Sabiti Makara is a distinguished academic, political scientist, and governance expert with over three decades of experience in research, teaching, and public service in Uganda and across Africa. He is a Professor of Political Science and Public Administration at Makerere University, where he has mentored generations of scholars, civil servants, and civil society leaders.

Prof. Makara’s research and scholarly work focus on democratic governance, decentralization, civil society, political participation, and public accountability. He has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications that continue to shape discourse on governance and inclusion in Africa.

As the Chair of the Board of Directors at Ubuntu Disability Action for Development Uganda, Prof. Makara brings strategic leadership, policy expertise, and a deep commitment to social justice and inclusive development. His vision aligns with UDAD-U’s mission of empowering persons with disabilities to fully participate in and benefit from all spheres of society.

Prof. Makara also serves on various national and regional advisory bodies and is widely recognized for his advocacy on equitable governance and the rights of marginalized communities. His leadership at UDAD-U is instrumental in advancing disability-inclusive policy advocacy, research, and institutional growth.
